The PAC Rats Theatre Company is a goofy group,
but we do have a set of strict rules for joining our
organization. They are as follows:
PAC Rats Theatre Company Rule #1: Just Show Up!
Rule #2: Expect to have fun!
Rule #3: Expect to work hard!

Rule #8: Just Show Up!
Rule #9: Just Show Up!
Rule #10: Refer to Rule #1
Now that you've seen the rules, if you're still game, come on along to our next meeting.

More Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What does "PAC Rat" mean? Where did you come up with that name?
A: PAC = Performing Arts Center. When the company was first formed, the founding members liked the way it tied in with Frank Sinatra's Rat Pack.

Q: Do you have dues? Do I have to pay to get in?
A: Heavens, no! The PAC Rats Theatre Company is a student "slash" community organization. We would never charge a fee to join. We make money the old-fashioned way... by selling popcorn. ;-)

Q: What do you pay your actors or tech people?
A: Because this is a student "slash" community organization, there is no pay involved in any of our productions. Everyone is a volunteer. Occasionally, if we make enough selling popcorn, we spring for lunch between shows or on those all day work sessions.

Q: If I join the PAC Rats does that mean I'm guaranteed a part in your next play?
A: No. PAC Rats have to earn a part by auditioning just like everyone else.

Q: If I don't get a part, why would I want to join?
A: The longer you hang around, the better your chances are of being cast. Why? Because you'll learn better skills along the way.

Q: Can I just be a tech person? Do I have to be an actor type?
A: Yes and no. We love techies! The more the merrier. If all you want to do is usher, that's okay with us.

Q: Do I have to be a PAC Rat in order to audition and / or make any of your plays?
A: Nope. The Kindig Performing Arts Center casts actresses and actors based on talent or suitability for the role and the ability to make rehearsals.

Q: Well gee. Just what ARE the benefits of joining the PAC Rats Theatre Company?
A: Lots! If you are a PAC Rat, you will get the opportunity to direct a play if you wish, design a set, design costumes, design sound and generally have more "artistic" input into a PAC Rats specific production. There's also the occasional "field trip" to see plays at professional and community theatres and the general camaraderie you'll find with a theatre troupe.

Q: Hmmm. PAC Rats "specific" production? There are others?
A: Yes. There are three "college sponsored" plays each academic year. In those cases, PAC Rats are used as actors (if they make the play) and crew members. These plays are directed and designed by full-time staff or faculty members. It can get confusing since everyone helps on everything, but once you stick around for awhile it all becomes clear.

Q: I have other questions I don't see the answers to here. Whom do I contact?
A: You'll want to email Ellie, the PAC Rats advisor and theatre manager.

The more people we have, the more plays we can do, which means more acting and technical opportunities for all. What are you waiting for? Come to the Kindig Performing Arts Center and join the fun!
