Old Business:
Letters to Dr. Bruce Aldrich -- It was once again mentioned that it would be a good idea to write letters to Dr. Bruce to thank him for his support of the theatre and the performing arts, as well as to suggest ways for him to do more for us.
Organizing past photos -- Once again, it was suggested that the many photos of theatre events currently located somewhere in the theatre need to be organized and archived. Prices for supplies for this endeavor had not yet been received. It was suggested that few photos were in PAC Rats' possession from Guerrilla Theatre and Winnie the Pooh. It was suggested to contact Vernon Schwartz and Shannon Lisewski about this.
Updates on future shows -- Seeing as Ellie was not in attendance, no discussion was made of Princess & The Pea. Since neither Chuck nor Diane Kaffka were in attendance, no discussion was made of The Haunting of Hill House. Since Eric Atkinson was in attendance, he briefly mentioned that he was still putting together his production crew for Murder is a Game. Audition dates for Chuck's & Eric's shows had not yet been finalized.
New Business:
Labor Day Parade? -- It was suggested that the PAC Rats should follow up on the success of the Memorial Day parade by publicizing the PAC Rats and upcoming theatre events at another parade. It was decided to contact Thom Gibbons at SSC for more information.
Other Business:
Wizard of Oz -- Eric Atkinson discussed his experience in Drama Group's staging of the musical The Wizard of Oz. It was decided that this production would not be feasible to produce on the SSC stage because of space constraints.
The next PAC Rats meeting was scheduled for Thursday, July 8, 1999 at 7pm in the PAC lobby. It was agreed that a Mel Brooks' film of indeterminate title would be shown after the next meeting.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:45 pm.
Memorial Day Parade -- Those Rats who attended South Holland Memorial Day Parade gave accounts of passing out candy and SSC pencils to spectators. Much derisive discussion was made of the SSC float. The web site address on the float was incorrect (PAC Rats corrected this error). No pictures of theatre events were pictured on the float. It was suggested that Dr. Bruce Aldrich, College President, personally hang some of our pictures from previous performances on the float in future. It was agreed upon that more publicity of the PAC Rats was needed at community events, and that more supplies (e.g., flyers, candy) would be required.
Summer performances for Guerrilla Theatre -- It was suggested that certain Speech & English instructors (e.g., Sandy Kamp, John Geraci, Rick Jones) be contacted to see if they would let us perform some scenes from GT. Once we had an instructor express interest, we would begin contacting members to see who would be interested and available to perform.
Fun activities -- It was decided by those present to schedule an outing for Great America on Sunday, June 20 and a trip to see an evening of one-act plays called Wits End on Saturday, June 26. It was also suggested to schedule a theatre event for mid-to-late February. Some suggestions included another performance of Guerrilla Theatre, an evening of one-act plays, or a scene-reading night. More on this at a future PAC Rats meeting.
Minutes were taken by Joey Tassin and transcribed by Paul Braun.
